Cllr J Grocott wished to study the document, and make comment at the next meeting
if necessary. The Asset Register was confirmed as being correct and updated for 2008/09.
08/39 Crime Prevention
A small amount of car crime in the village was discussed and it was reported a new Ringmaster web site had been set up covering any incidents in the vicinity.
08/40 Planning Matters
a) 1/D/08/001072 - Replace existing Sawyers Lane perimeter fence with 2m high closeboard fencing. Reduce Dorchester Road fencing to 1.8m. Erecttimber garage, 48 Dorchester Road, Stratton. REFUSED
b) 1/D/08/001480 - Replace Dorchester Road fencing with rustic willow hurdles.Retain Sawyers Lane closeboard fencing and timber garage, 48 DorchesterRoad, Stratton. AWAITING DECISION
c) 1/D/08/001179 - Erect bus shelter adjacent to 33 Dorchester Road, Stratton. APPROVED
08/41 Highways
a) A member of the public asked if lights to illuminate the entrance at the western end of the Village could be erected. Chairman responded that it would below in the list of priorities as designated by the Highways Authority.
b) A letter has been received from two residents regarding the excessive growth of vegetation along both sides of the cycle paths between Charminster Weir roundabout and Grimstone making it difficult for cyclists and pedestrians to pass. Clerk to write to the Highways Authority.
08/42 General Maintenance
Cllr T Hughes highlighted the need for the removal of brambles overhanging theeastern side of the Play Area.
08/43 Correspondence
a) Councillors were informed that an amount of correspondence was beingcirculated.
b)The owner of The Royal Yeoman, Grimstone, has complained regarding a 'hole' in the road outside the property. This is causing a disturbance to guests especially at night with heavy traffic passing over it. Clerk to write to Highways Authority.
c) A resident has e-mailed the Parish Council requesting that arrangements are made to cut back overhanging bushes on the corner of Locks Lane. Investigations are being made.
d) A letter has been received requesting that the planting of a tree on the Green in memory of Mrs Trudie Rose, a resident of Stratton for many years, be carried out by her family. They would like suggestions with regard to type of tree and suitable location if permitted. Cllr P Bowler will be consulted.All Councillors agreed to the request.
e) Contact has been made regarding the remaining three shrubs donated to the village by the Youth Club. Cllr P Bowler to be informed of species type.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, 21 October at 7.30 pm (Precept).
08/45 Any other business
a) Christmas Carols Evening - Clerk has arranged for the Durnovaria SilverBand to play carols again this year outside The Saxon Arms on Friday, 12 December 2008 at 7.00pm. Mr Rod Lamont has kindly offered to provide mince pies.
b) Cllr T Hughes reported that the result of the Best Kept Village will be posted on 25 September.
c) Cllr T Hughes expressed concern regarding the dog fouling on the PlayingField. It was agreed that a new sign should be erected on the gate. Clerkto provide samples at the next meeting.
d) Mr C Jackson announced that since 15 January 2008 the Stratton web site had received 5000 hits. He asked if local groups could be encouraged to provide current information to be added to the web site.
e)Summer Fayre - Chairman gave thanks for a cheque received from the proceeds of this year's event in the sum of £1663.24. Thanks were also given to all those who helped organise and run the fayre.
08/46 Democratic Period in which members of the public may speak or ask questions.
A resident raised concern over the possible location of allotments in the area of Mill Lane. Chairman confirmed this area was not being considered.
